Right-click and convert it to an Editable Poly.
Create another material with a bright colour and with 50% transparency. I would recommend a light green.
Then, in the Edge subobject mode, select and shift+drag the edges following the wall shape. This will expand your geometry by extruding the edge. Stop/resume this step each time you encounter a corner/window/door/another wall/etc. For the purpose of this tutorial, I will only build part of this house and I reccomend you to start with a simple plan as well. Be careful where edges overlap, you will have to clean your geometry (eliminate double vertices/edges, etc) before continuing.
